The Kathikawa/Dialogue programme is an interview with a writer/academic/artist about an issue related to language learning/language/translation/and writing. Here Dr. Siri Gamage, sociologist and lecturer first at Peradeniya University and then at the University of New South Wales, speaks about the ineqailities of knowldege distribution in the world, and how the Social Scientists of the Global South are yet to find paradigms that are not rooted in the West. This interview is based on the first chapter of the book “Sociology and Social Anthropology in South Asia: Histories and Practices” edited by Sasanka Perera et al (2018) – “Western Dominance, Academic Dependency and Crisis in South Asian Sociology” by Siri Gamage.
