The Sinhalese Cultural Centre acquired the property to establish the much needed Cultural Centre in October 2020 with the great support from the community. The property is currently going through renovations!
This is a great news for our community as this is the first time Sinhalese/Sri Lankan community in Sydney initiated such an important step for our generations and many future generations to come.
Much of the renovation activities are already completed (see some of the photos below!). These activities included structural work to consolidate areas in the building, gyprocking the required parts, painting, flooring, modifications to bathrooms, handrails, removal of unwanted trees, some landscaping … the list goes on. The work was done by professional tradesman or the support of many volunteer community members depending on the type of work.
We still have some very important renovation related work to be completed needing funds. A brief detail of this work in the order of priority, with the estimated/quoted cost is shown below.
Vertical and Roller blinds – $2400
Table and Chairs – $3000
Wall mounted Hot water Boiller – $1600
Venue Public Address System – $2000
Video/Data Projection – $2000
