The Sinhalese Cultural Centre is the Community Hub initiative for all of us in Sydney, initiated by the Sinhalese Cultural Forum of NSW with the excellent support from the wider Sinhalese community in Sydney for the benefit of all communities in our multi-cultural society. It will be an excellent facilitator of cultural and social needs of our community, for generations to come.

The Sinhalese Cultural Centre (SCC) is now established in Seven Hills (28 Cacia Av, Seven Hills) with the excellent support of the community.

As most of you aware, after a comprehensive assessment, the Blacktown City Council approved the Change of Use of the Sinhalese Cultural Centre property from “Residential” to “Community Facility”. This was a great outcome for the whole Sinhalese/Sri Lankan community who supported this initiative since its inception in 2016.

As part of the development approval from the Blacktown City Council, the SCC has to develop the site with new and upgraded facilities, in particular the car parking, new fencing and drainage improvements. The approved plans of the development are shown below for your information.

This Sinhalese Cultural Centre upgrade project development inclusions are as follows.

  • New car park with 5 x parking lots (4 x general parking lots and 1 x disable parking lot) and associated driveways
  • New 2.1m fence around the premises (3 sides) as specified by the Council
  • Stormwater drainage improvements including new rain water + OSD tank
  • Rear door replacement
  • Number of safety improvements

This SCC upgrade project is estimated to cost around $150,000.

The Sinhalese Cultural Centre is planning to apply for an Infrastructure grant from the NSW Government. It is a requirement for this grant to conduct a community consultation to assess the community support for this project.

The Sinhalese Cultural Centre kindly request the community organisations, community groups and individuals who are currently using the Sinhalese Cultural Centre and who plans to use the Sinhalese Cultural Centre in the future to provide the feedback and express the support for the project. This feedback and expression of support will enable the grant assessors to measure the level of support the Sinhalese Cultural Centre Upgrade project has from the community, in particular user groups.

We kindly request you to fill the form below as best as possible and submit.

Thank you.
