ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ 35 වන නීතිපතිවරයා ලෙස 1988 සිට 1992 දක්වා සේවය කළ සුනිල් චන්ද්‍ර ද සිල්වා මහතා 2021 පෙබරවාරි මස 28 වන ඕස්ට්‍රේලියාවේ සිඩ්නි නුවරදී අභාවප්‍රාත්ත විය.

1952 සිට 1958 දක්වා කොළඹ රාජකීය විද්‍යාලයේ අධ්‍යාපනය ලැබූ සුනිල් චන්ද්‍ර ද සිල්වා මහතා 1961 දී ලන්ඩන් විශ්ව විද්‍යාලය
ශාස්ත්‍රවේදී උපාධිය ද 1963 දී ලංකාවේ විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයෙන් L.L.B උපාධියද , 1974 දී ලන්ඩන් විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයෙන්
පශ්චාත් උපාධි ඩිප්ලෝමා අධ්‍යයන ජාත්‍යන්තර නීතිය සහ මානව හිමිකම් පශ්චාත් උපාධි ඩිප්ලෝමා ද ලබාගත් අතර 1961 දී ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ නීති විද්‍යාලයේ ද අධ්‍යාපනය හදාරා නීතිඥයෙකු ලෙස සුදුසුකම් සපුරන ලඳි.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ නීතිපති දෙපාර්තුමේන්තුවේ විවිධ තනතුරු දැරූ ඔහු 1992 සිට 2017 දක්වා ඕස්ට්‍රේලියාවේ නිව් සවුත් වේල්ස් නීතිඥ සංගමයේ සාමාජිකයෙකු ලෙස ද කටයුතු කරනු ලැබීය.

සිඩ්නි නුවර කේන්ද්‍ර කොටගත් ශ්‍රී ලාංකික සමාජ හා සංස්කෘතික සංගම් ගණනාවක ක්‍රියාකාරී සාමාජිකයෙකු වූ එතුමා හා සමීපව කටයුතු කිරීමේ අවස්ථාව මා හ‍ට ද හිමි වුයේ මා සිඩ්නි නුවර ශ්‍රී ලංකා කොන්සල් ජනරාල් ලෙස සේවය කරන කාලයේදීය.

Mr. Sunil Chandra de Silva, who served as the 35th Attorney General of Sri Lanka from 1988 to 1992, passed away on 28 February 2021 in Sydney, Australia.

Mr. Sunil Chandra de Silva was educated at the Royal College, Colombo from 1952 to 1958 and graduated from the University of London in 1961.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of London in 1961, an LLB degree from the University of Ceylon in 1963 and a Postgraduate Diploma in Diploma in International Law from the University of London in 1974. He also studied at the Law College of Sri Lanka in 1961 and qualified as a Lawyer.

He held various positions in the Attorney General’s Department of Sri Lanka. Also he was a member of the New South Wales Bar Association of Australia from 1992 to 2017.

He was an active member of a number of Sri Lankan social and cultural associations based in Sydney, and I had the opportunity to work closely with him during my tenure as Consul General of Sri Lanka in Sydney.
