Australia's Biggest Morning Tea

Report to Ozlanka

A note from the Cancer Council “Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is Cancer Council’s most popular fundraising event and the largest, most successful event of its kind in Australia. The idea is simple, just get your friends, colleagues or community together over some tea and treats, and help to raise vital money for people affected by cancer. All of the donations made across the country go towards helping your local Cancer Council achieve its mission of a cancer free future.”

On this theme…On Sunday 3 June,  A “Biggest Morning Tea” was hosted by well- wishers to contribute to this great cause at a residence in West Pennant Hills NSW.
The event was a resounding success in terms of Cancer Council’s mission; and exceeded the hosts’ expectations with closer to $5500.00 in cash donations to date.

More than 120 people gave up their Sunday morning responsibilities to attend the BMT with amazing support in kind & in cash donations.

No one minded the relatively confined space they had to share, but had fun mingling, chatting and tasting a variety of delicious dishes prepared by the hosts and attendees. High light of the morning was the address by Dr Aruni Ratnayake who graced the occasion as the Community Engagement Manager – Programs of the Cancer Council NSW- Greater Western Sydney.

Dr Ratnayake explained to the gathering, how cash donations are being utilised to fund research and activities towards a Cancer free future for everyone. She stressed the importance of volunteering. Dr Ratnayake also spent time talking to people and answering their questions.

Success of this event opened up the possibility of a  bigger & better yearly event as invitations had to be held back this time due to lack of space.

If anyone is interested to join in for a BMT next year, please contact the organisers.
