Thun Sithka Rawaya on stage as scheduled on August 16th

 


Thun Sithaka Rawaya, a classical musical spectacular, introducing a renowned Sri Lankan artists duo hitherto elusive to the Sydney Sri Lankan cultural arena, will be staged at the John Sutherland Centre for Performing Arts on Saturday 16th August 2008 commencing at 6.30pm.

It will be the first ever Australian performance for the veteran musician and vocalist Mr Amarasiri Peris, who is the voice behind such melodies as ʽOba apple malak wageʼ and ʽLanduneʼ and for Mrs Pradeepa Dharmadasa, a talented an reputed vocalist who presented such songs as ʽKolom purenʼ and ʽNadan punchi hiramaneʼ. Lakshman Wijesekara, much loved artist who is no stranger to the Sydney audience will join them in company.

The vocalist will be assisted in harmony by a group of musicians comprising the best contempory talent from Sri Lanka and from Sydney. Tabla maestro Hemapala Gallage, talented guitarist Nalaka Anjana Kumara, young and up coming Key Board player Indrjith Mirihana from Sri Lanka will join our own talent of Ravi Kulathilake, Terrance Fernando, Dinesh Ekanayake and Nirosha Jayawardane to provide a memorable musical evening.

Organisers wish to confirm the date of performance on 16th August 2008 as originally advertised on Ozlanka. They stressed that rumours of postponement of this show are baseless and grossly unfounded.
